In Astana there is a microsurgeon, Akhmedin Darkhan Nagyskhanovich, who treats patients with preservation of organs. He did not refuse my father, who has cancer — leiomyosarcoma of the soft tissues of the ankle. He performed surgery for an extremely rare tumour in the ankle area and at the same time preserved the ankle joint itself.

I had the chance to meet Darkhan Nagiskhanovich — and he turned out to be the best doctor of all I have ever known. In 2016 he operated on my mother: she had a tumour of the eye orbit, and no one dared to take on the operation because she had a great many concomitant illnesses. In his hands everything went successfully.
